Equity Engagement & Strategy Process

The Equity Engagement and Strategy Process (EESP) is designed for organizations that seek to develop an organizational equity, diversity, inclusion, healing justice and liberation strategy. Through this process, CDE guides the organization as our client to build capacity and a strong foundation for future work that is both strategic and effective. This work can enhance innovation, improve teamwork, and build the organization’s capacity to build authentic relationships across differences. Together with the organization’s staff and board, we assess the organization’s history, current and desired state, and vision as it relates to equity, diversity, inclusion, healing justice, and liberation. We work in close partnership with the organization’s diversity change agents (i.e., diversity council or two or more designated staff and/or board) to facilitate this process of foundation building.

Through the EESP, organizations:

  • Develop an understanding of organizational history, current state, desired state, and needs regarding equity, diversity, inclusion, healing justice and liberation work
  • Develop your organizational “why” statement
  • Develop a strategy to move your culture change process forward. This plan will act as a guide that outlines your strategic focus areas to move the work toward your desired state
  • Develop strategic equity, diversity, inclusion, healing justice and liberation actions
  • Identify touchstones and milestones to support to guide your work (and remind you to celebrate and find joy in the work)
  • Develop resource allocations for the work (if you want to see what an organization values, look at their budget)
  • Identify opportunities to build staff capacity in the culture change process
  • Create and implement staff development plans
  • Develop accountability measures – qualitative and quantitative
  • Develop a solid platform for future equity, diversity, inclusion, healing justice, and liberation work
  • Build stronger internal capacity for future equity, diversity, inclusion, healing justice and liberation work
